Dubs
VHS dubs: These are made one at a time onto our professional wide-head Panasonic editing deck with normal and Hi-Fi stereo audio tracks. DV Post's in-house tape dubbing charges are based on the length of the program in minutes, divided by 60, times our hourly dubbing rate (currently $30.00), plus the materials. There is a $5.00 minimum labor charge for videos under 10 minutes.
DVD dubs from a DVD: This is done on the PC side of DV Post. First a disk image file is made from your DVD. The first copy is $8.00. Additional copies of the same DVD are then $5.00. DVDs are packaged in slim jewel cases. Amaray album boxes or full face printing is extra.
DVDs (authored) made from a video: Your video must be in the DVCAM, Mini-DV, or the VHS format. If not, we must first have it converted at another facility. When your video is on one of the formats we can use, there is a one time digitizing charge of $50/hour, billed by your video program length. If significant editing is required, then the normal editing rate of $75/hour applies. If significant DVD Authoring is required then that rate of $65/hour will apply. When DV Post has edited your program, all DVDs are $5.00 each including the disc.
Blu-Ray DVDs: These are great when you have a short program that you want to display in High Definition. They take a much longer time for the HDV video to be converted to the files used on Blu-Ray discs. (About 8 times longer than SD DVDs) At this time (2011) it is impractical to make a long-from video in HD. But fairly short programs under 15 minutes are great for Blu-Ray. When DV Post has edited your program, Blu-Rays are $10.00 each including the disc. We do not offer duplication of Blu-Ray discs.
DVDs (real time) made from video: This is a faster way to make very simple DVDs in real time from VHS and other video formats. A basic menu is generated by the DVD recoding machine. Up to 4 hours of video can be recorded on one DVD-R, but that is not recommended. When more than 2 hours are put on a DVD, the quality suffers. The rate for this is $20/hour based on the program length, with a $20 minimum. The disc is an additional $3.00.
DVD dubs from memory cards: A newer service at DV Post that uses the Sony VRDMC6 Burner. The rate for this is $20/hour based on the program length, with a $20 minimum. The DVD-R disc is an additional $3.00. Supported cards are Memory Stick PRO™, Memory Stick Pro Duo™, Secure Digital (SD/SDHC) and xD cards.
Audio CDs from Audio Cassettes: The rate for this service is $60/hour based on the actual running time, with a $20 minimum. The disc is an additional $1.25. A CD is limited to about 1 hour. The tape is played into the computer, an audio file is created, trimmed, and then mastered onto a CD-R. If extensive editing of the audio is required, then additional charges will apply. After the first CD is made, additional copies are $5.00 each including the CD-R.
