Dubs

VHS dubs:  These are made one at a time on our professional wide-head Panasonic editing deck with normal and Hi-Fi stereo audio tracks.  DV Post's in-house tape dubbing charges are based on the length of the program in minutes, divided by 60, times our hourly dubbing rate (currently $30.00), plus the materials.  There is a $5.00 minimum labor charge for videos under 10 minutes.

DVD dubs from a DVD:  This is done on the PC side of DV Post.  First a disk image file is made from your DVD.  Since it then only takes 6 minutes or less to burn a DVD regardless of length, each DVD dub is only $5.00 .  DVDs are packaged in slim jewel cases.  Amaray album boxes or full face printing is extra.

DVDs (authored) made from a video:  Your video must be in the DVCAM, Mini-DV, S-VHS or the VHS format.  If not, you must first have it converted at another facility.  When your video is on one of the formats we can use, there is a one time digitizing charge of $50/hour, billed by your video program length.  There is a half hour minimum digitizing charge of $25 for each video.  Copies are then $8.00 each. ($5.00 labor plus $3.00 for the disc)  If you need to have a menu and/or want the DVD to be programmed other than just "insert and play," then DVD Authoring charges will apply.  When DV Post has edited your program, all DVDs are $5.00 each including the disc.

DVDs (real time) made from a VHS video:  This is a faster way to make very simple DVDs in real time from VHS tapes.  A basic menu is generated by the DVD recoding machine.  Up to 4 hours of video can be recorded on one DVD-R, but that is not recommended.  At the highest data rate the quality is pretty good, but the time is limited to one hour.  The next data rate down equates to 2 hours of video and the quality still isn't too bad.  When more than 2 hours are put on a DVD, the quality suffers.  The rate for this is $20/hour based on the program length, with a $20 minimum.  The disc is an additional $3.00.

Audio CDs from Audio Cassettes:  The rate for this service is $60/hour based on the actual running time, with a $20 minimum.  The disc is an additional $1.25.  A CD is limited to about 1 hour.  The tape is played into the computer, an audio file is created, trimmed, and then mastered onto a CD-R.    If extensive editing of the audio is required, then additional charges will apply.  After the first CD is made, additional copies are $5.00 each including the CD-R.
