Songs About Everything
Written and Sung by John Primm
That's All There Is
Just another attempt to sum up one's life in a song.
When I was little tiny baby and my Momma took care of me
She was always there to protect and hold me tenderly
My Daddy was there to answer my questions and ride me on his knee
Both of them always remained so constant in their love for me.
I never worried about the meaning of why I'm here today
My parents never let me ponder - my blues were taken away
And if they were the only people on Earth I'd have to say
That that's all there needs to be, to be a child and so I say
That's all there is. That's all there is.
That all there is to be a child.
And then I got a little bit older, my hair started growing fast
I started to notice that people were different - for a moment I stood aghast.
Sometimes I wished I were a child again - way back in the past
But then I'd take another look and wished now would always last.
Yes now it seemed I had a greater time time - my mind was sorta turned loose
I found that living was really all right if you put it to good use
And never again did I miss those times when I grew my first tooth
Cuz now I knew the greatest time - the time to be a youth.
That's all there is. That's all there is.
That all there is to be a youth.
Then I found my eyes kept staring into another face
And her eyes too looked into mine - it seemed like the right place.
Oh yet I wished I were a youth again earlier in this pace
But then I'd take another look and I loved the human race.
Yes this time now I found my heart was given a great big shove
I want to run and jump and shout and sing to God above
With a thunderous voice as loud as a cannon yet mild as a turtle dove
I want to say that in this day that's all there is to love.
That's all there is. That's all there is.
That all there is to be in love.
So now my childhood , youth and love have all knocked on my door
And it seems as time goes on each time is better than before
Yet sometimes I wish were a child or a youth in love once more
But man, I'm happy, older and wiser - you could say I know the score
Yes now I see a little bit better - my age has improved my sight
The good times, bad times, mad times, sad times are now seen in brighter light
Although there's two sides to each moment and no two are alike
I have to say in this day that's all there is to life!
That's all there is. That's all there is.
That all there is to life.
Isn't that enough?
